CB Antenna
I have a 2007 2500. I used to have a magnetic mount whip antenna but with the height of the van adding another 5 feet would be to tall. Has anyone got any ideas on where and how to mount an antenna. I could have really used the radio this last week with two accidents that shut the freeway down.[/img]

A simple CB antenna mount can be installed between the driver's front fender and the hood. Merely fashion a 1.25"x6" stainless steel strap in the shape of a flattened out Z (like 1/2 of a swastika). Attach one end to the fender flange and let the other end extend over the fender. Attach the antenna to this free end. You'll find that you can open and close your hood without a problem. Coverage is adequate, but less than good.

c.b.ant.
i have a 2005 p-way motorhome, had a rooftop mag mount. you are right, way too high. dont know about 07 but on 05 only place i could find with single panel sheet metal was small area on pass. side next to side marker lite. remove headlite assy. , let hang by wires lots of room to work. at radio store i found a small side mount, two 1/4 " holes. i then put on a 3 foot glass ant. with spring. works very good & looks good too.

C.B. Antenna
I install CBs and antennas regularly.
I have a 2002 Freightliner Sprinter with the high roof (over 6' inside) and have a wilson 2000 mounted on the roof. It's only 4-5' tall but it's on top of the roof and it's not too high. Doesn't hit bridges or anything. I even went through McDonald's drive through but with the antenna mounted in the center of the roof it was actually just outside of their roof so it didn't hit. Otherwise it would have.
The center of the roof is the best place, performance wise, to mount the antenna.
If you are still absolutely against the roof, you can do like another mentioned and fabricate a bracket that comes up through the crack between the hood and the fender. If you need mounts or any information don't hesitate to contact me at aaronduke@email.com
