My 2007 Sprinter 2500 cargo has only a little over a thousand miles on it now and is getting an average of 13.5 mpg with the new diesel engine. Not quite what I was hoping to see. Granted most of my driving is in town and it is loaded as a service vehicle with shelving, parts, and tools. I went to this from my 2003 Dodge Ram which got all of 10.5 mpg on gasoline. I guess when the Dodge emblem goes on the fuel economy goes out. It is roomy though and great to work out of.

To HK Pierce re milage date on the web via Yahoo: I tried to get to that - I went through about a dozen steps and then ended up right back where I started without ever seeing a reference to this data. How in the heck does one actually get to the mileage data? I have heard that the newer Sprinters don't get the same gas mileage as earlier ones, to consider buying a used one. I find it hard to locate any kind of real value data on Sprinters. Easy for passenger cars but no one seems tocompare and evaluate such vans in the same way, that I can find. I like to do my homework first. Reading individual email comments not too useful - every possible point of view included, from very worst to very best.

I have a 2007 2500 SHC with the V6 diesel engine. If I am lucky Ill get an average of 19mpg on the freeway. The best I have gotten is 19.8mpg empty running across the flat plains of Oklahoma. If the truck is loaded with anything over 1000lbs it drops to between 17 and 18 mpg. While it is better than the Ford F-350 7.3 Turbo Diesel (best engine ever made imho) I used to drive, it doesn't by any means get the dealer claimed 22-23 mpg.

    Hey group!
I am running a 2004 2500 high roof long wheelbase van averaging 21-24 mpg.
I am a kitchen and bath contractor up here outside Portland Maine. I love and hate my van for various reasons. But regarding mpg, diesel is now $4.26 per gallon. For that $ it would be cheaper $/mile to run a Ford econoline. Hopefully the next model year Sprinter will be hydrogen powered.

    Thanks

    Derek

I have an 08 Hi-Top extended Dodge. My best mileage is at 55mph ( If you can stay awake at those speeds ) I get 25 almost 26 with a tail wind. Worst I have gotten was 17.6 with a 600lbs load and running the A/C full max all day and mixed hwy/ city driving. Has anyone used the Bully Dog or the TS performance MP-8 performance modules? Is there any known negetive side effects to the engine/trans/drive train?

    Default fuel eco 17 mpg

always the same regardless 2007 engine revs run diferent at same speed ( 2007 3000 @ 70 miles 2008 2600 @ 70 miles) It is also a sorce of EGR problems as the engine Is not loaded enough.always the same altitude load always the same my 2008 runs different RPM with same engine milage is more as you would expect up to 20 MPG

When the EGR valve gets stuck your power and milage goes all over the place . Try at a stop with full brake full throttle fore a long time real time 30sec to a 60 sec this will Jam the valve in the best position for you and the milage
