My Sprinter is on it's 3rd tank full. Getting over 500 miles/tank which yields between 22 and 24 MPG. The dealer promised 28 when broken in but I don't see it happening. I've spoken to other tradesmen with Chevy vans and they are getting half what the Sprinter gets. I'm not happy about the smell of the diesel exhaust though.

Fuel Mileage
I have been getting between 20 and 22 mpg. This may be because I have the 411 rear end. At 70 mph I am turning right at 280rpm.

Welcome mercedessprinterdriveruk,
We have here in the US the 2.7 liter inline 5cyl...only one available, with the automatic(nice but I WANT A STICK) being the only tranny offered as well. Great motor for general use, not over sized like Ford Chevy monster diesel motors. Their offerings are nice but I think they are too big for many peoples needs.
I get 18.5-26 mpg loaded (12.7-9.0 liters/100km), awesome for a loaded van! 600 miles(965.6km)/tank is easy if I'm all highway
Scott
Just popped back in here after another few months...still pretty quiet around here

Well, I am only averaging 18 mpg. Truck has about 7k miles on it. Oh yeah, it is a 3500 cab and chassis with the Superior utlity box on the truck. Here is a link to the truck, http://www.supremeind.com/html/dry_f...nter/main.html. With tools and material, I am constantly riding around with about 7500~8000 pounds of weight. Much better mileage than my last truck.

Tileman, you may see a slight increase in your mileage as your odometer gets above 10K. Be sure to use full synthetic for your oil changes. Also,(first diesel?) winter fuel typically yeilds lower numbers. I do not know any one with an aftermarket box cab/chassis setup, my guess is that you will not get the mid twenties numbers some of us are getting due to the van being a 3500 Dually, and the wind resistance of that box. Would the standard van body have worked for you space wise?
