Hi Sprinter Owners,
I disabled my DRLs by removing the relay, not the fuse, that controls them. My '04 was going through several pairs of headlamp bulbs a year.
Problem solved. 
My other sprinter, '06, does not have DRLs, although it is the same era body. It was one of the slender grey relays on the steering column. I'll look on the vehicle tomorrow to see which is missing.

We disabled the DRLs on our 2005 by removing the 3 7.5 amp fuses under the seat. Give the same result, no more DRL
