engine failures - assyst computer system
I am a contractor for fedex. In July 06 I bought a 140 wheelbase high top sprinter. I was told by the selling dealer that it was best to get one with the ASSYST computer system because it would monitor my driving and tell me when I needed to perform maintenance and this would save me on costs so I got one with that. Now here I am at 123,000 miles and the engine has tossed a rod thru the side of the block. Estimated cost to repair, a whopping $13,000.00. I called dodge and requested an out of warranty adjustment. The dealer pulled the oil pan and found sludge in the pan, dodge immediately denied any claim due to lack of maintenance despite the fact that I had receipts for each oil change when the ASSYST computer told me so. My thinking on this that their computer program must be flawed, I followed what my owners manual and the computer said and am now being turned down for assistance. Has anyone else had similiar problems? I am certainly open to suggestions. Oh, and by the way, for those of you who have complaints about Chrysler customer service, know this, the 800 number you call and the people you talk to are not actually employed by Chrysler, they are a company that is subcontracted to take the calls so they have absolutely no interest in you as a customer. thanks, this is a great forum. Al please feel free to email me at abouda@coxinet.net with any info.

Im also with fedexcc, and as you I have never had any help from chrysler to the point I will never buy or recommend any of there product for business or personal use. I fell your pain I just had to replace a transmission. All I could recommend is try a local shop that may be able to use some salvage parts for a little less cash. Good Luck

My '02 is at that same mileage and I have always used ASSYST which has always called for a change at 15k miles. I use the 0w40 Mobil 1 oil. I had the last change analyzed (119k miles) and all was OK. What oil did you use and did you ever get it analyzed (if yes, what result?).

The ASSYST is a waste of time and money! Warranty is based on odometer NOT the Assyst mileage. I have 256,000 miles and have had NO problems 2500 158" high top 2005. Getting between 22-24 mpg not done the brakes yet other then a fan belt ($32.00) and the usual oil changes($70 ) and tires....using the 0W40 Mobile 1 about every 12-15,000 miles.
