Took a test drive in a 2006 / 2500 Sprinter today, and I have a question about the way the transmission operated. I couldn't take this unit out on the highway, since the owner only has "parking" insurance - so I drove it around the apartment complex several times. What was noticeable was a definite "slippage" when shifting from either 1st or 2nd (not sure which) into 3rd, with the engine momentarily revving up to around 2,500+ RPM. I was able to repeat this multiple times, when accelerating from a stop. My question is whether or not this is "normal" for this unit when cold, or should I walk? It was about 25 degrees at the time. This unit has 122K miles on it, and otherwise looks in very good condition. Since the owner has no liability insurance, it can't be taken to a shop for checkout/evaluation without him being at risk. Thanx in advance for any feedback . . .
