Thanks for that info FLman. I checked the resonator and it's hoses, they all looked ok. So I did change the egr valve, but The problem still exist. Is there a egr sensor located at the front of the motor by the antifreeze overflow bottle?

I did not suggest you change the EGR, I just said the failures are more common in the 2007 and up Sprinters.
