Hi from the UK.
Hi all, i live in Nottingham in the UK, ihave a Mercedes Sprinter 316CDI lwb semi-hightop(2002 model) which i use for courier work all over the UK and Europe.I have now over 600,000 miles on her and apart from replacing consumables and acouple of annoying recalls it has been 100% reliable and has never been treated with kid gloves!
The 2007 model is about to hit our shores with a V6 tdi version (184bhp) and VW are also updating thier version(badged here as the LT) called the Crafter.
If you want to take a look at the next gen. go to www.mercedes-benz.co.uk and for a road test/impressions on the newone go to www.whatvan.co.ukclick on new vans in the left menu.
We have had the sprinter around here for over 10 yrs now,and they are a very popular choice with owner and fleets alike, drivers love them and you never see one doing less than 90 on the moterways overhere.Although the initial asking price is pretty high compared to other products on the market, they retain agood resale value no matter the mileage and the secondhand market is very strong. Also the dealer network over here(mertrux) is second to non and servicing is available 24hrs.
Cannot reccomend these vehicles enough,if i find anymore info/sites that may be of help to you will post them up here,dodgeforum.com also have a forum for the US sprinter,is there price differance between the Dodge/F-L versions?.The current version of the VW is based on the series 1 1995-2000 model sprinter so it is good value for money if a little dated.
Take care,i'm off for a Beer(or 2!),Cheers.
