    Default Turbo quit working till re-starting + fuel mileage declining

    My Turbo quit working a few days ago. It did not start when I started the engine, and did not work until I could get off the freeway & shut the engine off & then re-started it (rebooting it). After restarting it worked fine.

    I got no warning lights on the dash. I called my local Freightliner dealer & was told that they had never heard of this before.

    I don't know if this could be related, but my mileage has been declining by about one MPG per tank for the last several tank fills. I have about 3500 miles on van- first tank was 21 MPG- lsat tank was 17 MPG.-> could this be connected with the Turbo problem I described above?

    Has anyone had this happen to them & any idea what caused it & is there anything I need to look out for or have checked.

    -> Thanx for any info.

    I have the same problem 2006 1ton sprenter . I have a loss of power so i pull over put the van in park and then restart ,and it runs fine . The dealer told me the same thing . For me to bring it in to hook it up to the computer.
    They said it could take 2 or 3 days to get to it and i would need the keep the van there so i am trying to find the problem.

    Hey guys, this sounds very similar to what mine was doing. Would loose the turbo and the truck had no power. The ECM did not kick any codes. Took the truck to the dealer and they were able to hook it up to the truck. The dealer replaced the Turbo Resonator. The ecm had stored a fault code of 2359-001 (from repair ticket-boost psi too low). Total time at dealer was about 3 hours from check in to repair complete.

    Truck is 3500 cab/chasis with utility box and 13,600 miles at time of problem.

    Look down by the resinator coming off the turbo, if there is oil leaking from it, replace it, problem solved.
