    Default Sprinter problems

I purchased a 2003 in November. So far the pre-heater has failed, air flow sensor, lumbar support and the A.C. stops when ever it feels like it. I would not suggest purchasing this vehicle. Unless you have a good service dept. in your area. I don't.

Air Flow sensor: there are actually two located on the air filter housing. The optional one for the filter replacement has spotty performance. The mass flow sensor - this is the first I have heard of a fault.

Lumbar support. Actually, it is the little balloon pumps that are faulty. The check valve doesn't work. I have not heard of anyone's working, and my 4 (both replaced by the dealer) have never worked either.

AC: Mercedes uses a cycling routine that runs the compressor, then shuts it off after a set time before cycling back on again. It is intended to reduce the parasitic load on the engine as much as possible under the theory that the compressor works faster than the evaporator. But in warm climates, the single AC is just not enough and the cycling is painfully obvious.
