new '07 second gen sprinters!
Any body been checking them out?..I am seriously thinking of buying one selling the Eurovan. The new second gen's look much more reformed passenger wise. I don't like v6 diesel much , I prefer inline engines. I really like the interior, the new dash, suspension seats with heat, HID Xenon lights that shine into turns, sunroof, Sid eimpact airg bags and thorax airbags, etc etc.. In Germany it is availabe with a 6spd manual trnas.. an dthe instrument cluster has nicer trim, I hope that option is available here in US. Otherwise I may have to buy and import the parts.. I hope the MPG of the new vans is at least 20mpg. If its not, I think I may keep my 2003 VW Eurovan and import the tdi parts to swap a 5 cyl tdi and 6spd trans into it.. Any one here any prices or any one waiting to buy a new version?
Thanks,
Deo

Although I think, i may wait for the new ones to come out in april to see if I really want one for the extra $..I do like the old 5cyl engine alot..not sure on the v6. any one redo there older first gen with leather seats and heat etc?. My wifes got a college friend who got one and a had custom leather uposhery done with heat added ..even the rear seats have heat!, it is a nice van short wb, I think a short roof and black with the mecercedes badges. real sharp.

2007 Sprinter
Yes, I am wondering about the six cylinder engine. I drove one and really liked how it drove, but am wondering about the v 6. New engine? Has it been used in Europe? Will it be as good an engine as the old five cylinder? Would I be better off buying a used Sprinter instead of trying the new model?
Thoughts?

Re: 2007 Sprinter
I drove both just this past Saturday. I went home with the 2006 SWB High Roof and it was brand new. So no you would not have to buy a used one. Look for the 06's. It felt better and they dropped the price $4000 right out of the gates. That helped, but as far as I am concerned the next generation is a different van. IMO.

I waited until 2007 for the upgraded body, the (optional) 220 amp alternator the upgraded standard 4 wheel disc brakes....
I've ordered a 2007 Sprinter Cargo 2500 from Freightliner.
I can't tell you what's best for you.
Before I placed the order, I bought the 2007 Owners Manual from techauthority.com so I could see what I was buying (options, manufacturer recommendations etc).
Dodge may eventually put the '07 manual on their website for free download as a PDF, as they do for many of their vehicles. I didn't want to wait for that, but I recommend checking there often and reading owners manuals prior to purchase.

I have a 2007 2500 Sprinter... I have been getting 24-26 mpg, no problem. The key is during the first 1,000 miles or so, drive very aggressively, accelerate rapidly and tow as much weight as possible... This allows the engine to be broken in at a much faster rate. Make sure you "floor it" as you take off from the stop lights... again, 25 mpg no problem.
