    Default Sprinter Losing Power

    Hi everyone

I run a Sprinter 413cdi 2001, single car transporter, i have a problem & was wondering if anyone can help, whilst the vehicle is running it will all of a suddenly go in to the Limp Mode?
i then have to switch off the engine & restart & it will run fine for many weeks.
when it is plugged into my mechanics Snap On Code reader, nothing is stored in the memory
Any ideas as to where to start fault finding will be appreciated, have spoken to my Local Main Agent, who suggests that i get it booked in & for them to run a Diagnostics on it, don't really want to do that(big Bucks)

It also has another problem which could be related, when driving along & you switch the side lights on it momentarily loses power, this problem i have had since i have had the vehicle, nearly a year now.

i purchased the vehicle with the Engine losing water, & then sourced a 2nd hand engine which had covered a genuine 25k miles.

    hope somebody can help

    thanks

I don't know if you've found your problem yet, but my sprinter had the same problem. It was the rubber Turbo hose. It had a crack in it (invisible) and it causes the engine to suck too much air and the power suffers for it. The dealer told me that these engines were notorius for this problem. It cost me 218.00 bucks to have them replace it. After that, it was like a new engine. The reason that the problem comes and goes is the hose heats and cools and the crack either gets bigger (bad) or smaller (good) as the temperature goes up or down.
