Default 2009 - Check Engine light

    Greetings all.

I have an '09 Dodge Sprinter with 18,000 km on it - maybe about 11,000 miles. While I was driving it around today, the dummy light for the engine came on solid amber. No other symptoms. I've got a third of a tank of fuel in it, and it's never been run out. Any ideas?

Unfortunately that list is nearly endless. Take it to an auto parts store and have them read the codes. You can look them up online by searching for "OBDII codes". Some of the engine codes are unique to MB and may not translate without a specialized code reader.

Thanks. I didn't think you could get anything useful without the Star scan stuff.

As it happens - the light stayed on for most of a day, then went out again.

I'll see if the dealer can pull the historical code next time I go down there. it's about 100 miles from here, so going there isn't terribly convenient...

    Merry Christmas, all!

Depends on what it is. The auto parts stores (Auto Zone, Advance, NAPA, etc.) will do it free. There is better than a 50% chance that the information you get will lead you to the problem and if not it may tell you whether it is worth making a trip to the dealer.

I'll check w/ my local NAPA and see if they are willing to do that in Canada, too. Great help - thanks!
