Angry SOS -2004 Sprinter - Sluggish engine -

2004 Dodge Sprinter Van loses power. Right after startup can rev engine to 4000 RPM, after 4-5 seconds it boggs down to 2500 RPM (max). If engine is shut off and restarted, goes same process happens, hot or cold. I have changed the EGR valve, changed fuel filter. Engine runs very sluggish 50-55mph. Would appreciate any ideas anyone has.. Thank you!

Did you check the turbo resonator for leaks, did you check the boost hoses and the of the turbo system for leaks?

Thank you for responding. Yes, I have checked for leaks. I have read that it could possibly be the map sensor or possibly the mass airflow sensor. Thoughts regarding that would be appreciated. -Greg

Either of those should result in a failure code being stored in the ECM. Have you had it scanned for codes??
You should be aware that generic OBD II code scanners do not work very will with the sprinter. You need to have it scanned with a DRB III or equivalent scanner to get accurate information.

Just for giggles, check the MAF sensor and make sure there are no cracks in the plastic mesh part of the sensor or any of the mesh missing. I did just about everything you did and did not resolve the problem until I replaced this part.

Good luck and keep us posted of the outcome.
